From the mysterious Anasazi who inhabited the Canyon 4,000 years ago, viewers will travel through Grand Canyon history to join Major John Wesley Powell as he challenges the unexplored Canyon and raging Colorado River in 1869.

    Grand Canyon IMAX Movie Discovery & Adventure is presented in the air-conditioned Grand Canyon IMAX theater located within the National Geographic Visitors Center. The movie is projected on a screen that is 6 stories high and 82 feet wide. This visual delight is enhanced by sensory 6-track Dolby® stereo surround sound. Plush seating is available for 524 guests plus access for 8 wheelchairs.

    Shows begin hourly at half-past the hour (34 minute film presentation) 365 days per year.

    The Theatre is open everyday except Christmas Day (December 25) and New Years Day (January 1). The doors open at 9:45am and the first film is at 10am. Shows then play hourly into the evening with the last show typically at 7pm or 8pm in the winter season and 8pm or 9pm in the summer.
